It means the cornrows are in way too tight, but then again braids start getting frizzy also. Be careful, if your hair is not in good shape, the cornrows will damage your hair pretty bad.

but from what I hear, this is what I say..

1. for growth, suprisingly...Pre-natal vitamins! They're not only for pregnant women, so its safe to take them. It wont just grow your hair but your nails too! and it helps your skin look healthy. theyre not expensive and you can get them at the store :D

2. for split ends, I really reccommend Chi Silk Infusion. its not heavy or gel-like or pasty, its a light little drop of liquid you put in your hair. it helps heal split ends, protect against heat, get rid of frizz, and it smells good :D not expensive either.

about the dry scalp Im not sure, Im always oily .. lol. and trust me its as much a prob. as the opposite lol

Gel and mouse gives you that wet look. When it come to growing your hair, care is key. I know you're deep condition and you should keep up with it. One thing I learned is that when you're dealing with your hair, it should be tooken care from morning to night. You can sleep with rough pillows b/c it can damage your hair. You can't put to many chemicals and products in your hair without expecting a consequence. Try cleansing your hair with 1 tbs. of baking soda and a cup of water or rinsing with apple cider vinegar to take all the hair products out once in a while. If you relax your hair, only do a touch up on the scalp and avoid putting to much relaxer on the rest of the hair. Optimum hair relaxer has a product that you put on the end of you hair before you put in the relaxer to prevent breakage. Good luck on the hair!

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

I would like to know how to make my hair grow longer as well and it sounds like to me you and I have hair similarities. Well I may have some helpful advice about how to keep your hair looking wet through the day. This is what I do and I find it very helpful. While in the shower use shampoo and conditioner or just conditioner and let the conditioner sit in your hair for the normal amount of time. Then while the conditioner is still in your hair use a comb brush and comb out all the tangles and knots. This allows for you to be tangle free , but still have your natural wet curly look. After that rinse out the conditioner and do not comb again just leave it as it is. Now for the final step use a curly hair gel and apply it to your hair while it's still wet just after you rinse.....rub the gel all throughout your hair and even shake your hair a bit to make sure your getting the whole head. Now it may sound like you will need a lot of gel, but you really don't. The gel that I use sometimes works great and it does not cost a lot. It's called La bella styling gel for curly hair. You can get it at target or CVS. Well I hope I have been of some help.

This will also keep your hair under control and looking nice and still wet and frizz free!

In my opinion you look better now, but whether you cut it or not it's up to you. I know a guy who has the same haircut you want...maybe a little longer...and he always seems upset because his hair is always on his face. This could also lead to breakouts from the oil from you hair (which is full of bacteria) being deposited on your face. If you do decide to grow it go ahead, you can always cut it if its a problem, and that way you won't wonder for the rest of your life what might have happened. I have waist-length hair, but I really don't know what to tell you to make it grow faster since I don't do anything. My hair grows fast naturally. I guess you could eat healthy foods (proteins, vitamins) and massage your skull. The thing about hair is that it is essentially dead protein, so technically it can't be "healthy". What you can do is make you follicles (the alive part) healthier and make your hair look better with products appropriate for your particular hair type.

Do what you want...the good thing about growing your hair out is that you can always cut if if you don't like it. If you had long hair and thought about cutting it...it would take time to grow it back out if you didn't like the style. I once had my hair reach my jaw, nothing much advice to give...just use the shampoo you like and conditioner if you want. You might have to think about using the hairdryer (I never used it), but letting your hair dry naturally works too. Be prepared for more bedhead in the morning, and realize that gel won't be used with hair that long (maybe moose?).

It's hard to say but your current picture kinda makes you look like a serious kinda guy and the second picture doesn't really go with serious guys.......umm......you have to find a cut and style that goes with your personality. I personally like guys with long hair but it has be right and it has to be their personality, otherwise I'd tell them to shave it and go bald!!

If you do decide to go for the longer hair, note that there is always a tweeking stage when it looks funny before it gets to a length that doesn't look funky (funky as in bad that is). Sometimes gel helps during that stage.

This is something I have pondered before and the answer I came up with is this: the hair that grows back to the same length is not the same hair that was cut. It's like when you comb your hair and there's always that little bit that sheds, it's not just the hair on your head that does that, it all does. I really need help with my hair and nails, im a 22yr old girl who does not have cancer and i do not take any pills or drugs. don't listen t the alopecia answer, its ridiculous and it seems she is jusy trying to scare you with ridiculous information....you simply overprocessed your hair, and TRUST ME, i have done this too. my hair would break and fall out and whatnot...since it is stipped of all of its original moisture, u have to put a leave in conditioner in it every day (put a dollop of conditioner into a spray bottle of water and this works wonders) and do it about twice a day (BUT DO NOT WASH IT EVERYDAY EITHER, IT STRIPS THE HAIR OF ALL ITS MOISTURE) u have to let your hair "heal"

Since your a gym buff you can also try Biotin 600 which you can pick up in GNC or vitamin world for about 10 bucks. take one daily. it creates thicker healthier hair and although not "proven" by scientist it does make your hair grow slightly faster. Talk to your doctor too if you are on medications, some will create thinning hair or stop growth all together. And if these do not improve your hair in about a month i would see a dermatologist. You may have a hair disorder. It could be just premature baldness. Then again, could be stress too. But start simple before you look into expensive treatments that often do not work they only create more problems. Best of luck!

Look into using a leave-in conditioner and/or hot oil treatments. Your local drug-store will have many options to choose from. Make sure to read the directions beforehand!

If you are an avid swimmer, consider wearing a swimming cap to protect your hair from chlorine damage.

Cut back on the coloring sessions, which will inevitably cause your hair damage. If you must color your hair, look into some of the newer dyes available which offer more moisturizing protection when dying.

When pulling back your hair, use smooth bands and clips. Avoid metal clips that can tangle and break hair, and never use bare rubber/elastic bands on your hair or hairbands that contain metal connections.

-Avoid hairstyles that pull at the hair and scalp.

-Avoid excessively hot water as well as blow dryers and curling irons. If you must use a blow dryer, invest in a diffuser.

-Consider wearing a cap or scarf of some sort when outside. Excessive heat/cold, wind and the elements can damage your hair.

-The oils in your scalp are good for your hair. Try to stimulate their production with regular scalp massages.

After all this, you may still end up with bad looking ends. If this is the case, get regular trimmings to get rid of bad ends.

Remember to have patience - human hair tends to grow at a rate of 1/2 to 1 inch per month. Your hair growth tends to decrease during colder months.

Tips

Those with curly/frizzy hair will have to be patient. The texture of your hair means that growing length will take a great deal of time. Straightening your hair will add length, but be sure that you aren't damaging your hair in the process by using heat and chemicals. Letting your hair air dry wrapped around large curlers or cans is usually an effective and safe method.

Try as you might, it may take years to grow your hair to a desired length, curly or straight.
