Why don't people grow hair in patterns like animals do?

Lots of animals have patterned hair growth, like tabby or calico cats, or tigers, etc. So why don't people have hair that grows in striped or spotted patterns?

Mammal hair patterns are usually for camoflage so that either they can hunt without being spotted (tiger) or can blend into the background without being spotted.

Humans are virtually hairless -- although the skin has a large number of hair follicles, the hair is thin and more or less invisible, except for the top of the head, which has hair to protect it from sun and to keep it warm. Patterned hair would not provide any advantage to humans.

Its because of are carecteristiques. Animals have patterned fur for camouflage. In are lifestyle we don't need to hide from predators. It also has to with the color of are parent hair and eyes.

Most of the animal fur patters come from necessity, camouflage. People don't need camouflage.

A better question, how come some apes (gorillas and chimps) don't grow fur in patterns?

Not so sure, Sandy G. I'd find a tiger striped person very interesting...
